Will it work on this phone?

Almost certainly, if it is an iPhone or an Android made in the last few years. What differs is which features each platform allows, and we would rather tell you that now than after you have paid.

Android phones and tablets

The fullest feature set. Location, history, geofences, calls, SMS, messaging apps, web and app activity, remote commands and SIM alerts all work on current Android versions from Samsung, Google, Oppo, Motorola and the rest.

iPhone and iPad

Apple restricts what any software can see on iOS. Location, history, geofences, call and message logs and app usage are available; some deeper features depend on the device configuration and the iCloud setup. We confirm the exact list with you first.

Everything else

BlackBerry, Symbian and feature phones are no longer supported. If the phone you are thinking of is unusual, tell us the model; if we cannot do it we will say so.

Before you buy

Three things to check

  1. You can hold the phone for two minutes. Installation happens on the device. There is no way to install Phone Tracker on a phone you cannot touch, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something that does not work.
  2. The phone has data or Wi-Fi. Reports travel over the phone's own internet connection. No connection, no updates, until it reconnects.
  3. You are entitled to monitor it. Your child's phone, a company phone with a notified policy, or an adult who has agreed. See Is it legal? for a sixty-second answer.
