Australian employers may monitor company-owned devices, provided staff have been told. In NSW the Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 requires written notice at least 14 days before monitoring begins, and most states have an equivalent. Covert monitoring of employees needs a court order and is not something we set up.
Every business plan comes with a workplace surveillance policy template and a staff acknowledgement form. Issue it, keep the signed copies, and the monitoring protects you in a dispute rather than becoming one. If you already have a policy, send it over and we will check it covers the software.
